WORLD RECORD BREAKER: An Irish company has created the world’s LARGEST vegan burger, weighing in at a whopping 162kg.

The world’s largest vegan burger, weighing 162kg and measuring 1.2 meters in diameter, was created in Northern Ireland.

Finnebrogue Artisan, a food producer, created the world-record-breaking burger.

It was created by ten colleagues at the plant-based facility in Downpatrick, Co. Down, and was the equivalent of 1274 standard-sized naked evolution burgers.

The massive vegan patty was shared among staff members as well as the local homeless community after the Guinness World Records team verified their record.

The Finnebrogue Artisan facility, worth £30 million, opened in December 2020.

Anthea McAuley, Finnebrogue’s Communications Manager, explained what was required to set the record straight: “All ingredients had to be verified as vegan.”

“We used our own Naked Evolution Burger recipe, which we launched in September 2021, and worked with local bakery, Irwins, to create a vegan bread bun.”

“To avoid food waste on the day, which is in line with our own policies and that of the Guinness World Records, we donated some finished burger to homeless charity, The Simon Community. Our staff also enjoyed the burger for their lunch.”, she continued. The burger was also a hit with our staff for lunch.

“All stages of the record attempt was evidenced and verified by independent experts before the adjudicator confirmed a record was set.”

Sean Kearney, Finnebrogue’s Innovation Process Manager, commented on the record:

“We were set a target weight of 100kg, but we knew from the outset we wanted to exceed that.

“The team included representatives from NPD, marketing and engineering; and together we designed and built everything, including a swing to aid turning the patty during cooking. That was perhaps the most challenging part of the record as we didn’t want to break the patty.”

He continued: “The patty took almost nine hours to cook so the day was long. However, when we added all the condiments and Jack revealed the weight of the burger, we were elated!”

The patty was the equivalent of 1274 Naked Evolution Burgers, with 10kg tomatoes, 4.5kg lettuce, 7kg cheese, 2kg tobacco onions, 5kg gherkins, 5kg Naked without the oink rashers, and 5kg Naked Burger sauce as condiments.

The Guinness World Record for the largest vegan burger was set at 162.5 kilograms, nearly 40% more than the target weight of 100 kilograms.

“Huge congratulations to the Finnebrogue Artisan team for achieving the largest vegan burger,” Guinness World Records adjudicator Jack Brockbank said of the Finnebrogue Artisan’s successful attempt.

“It takes some considerable planning and organisation to pull off a feat of this magnitude.
“They observed the strict guidelines provided by Guinness World Records to the letter, and it was a pleasure to witness such a dedicated team at work.”
